Professional Experience

Kevin has served in the capacity as a Partner in private practice over the last several years and previously as a Felony Prosecutor at the State Attorney’s Office for the 10th Judicial Circuit. Kevin has practiced law on a wide diversity of cases at both the County and Circuit Court level in Polk, Hillsborough, Hardee and Highlands Counties. Kevin has been featured for several different cases on Fox 13 News, Bay News 9, ABC Action News, NBC, the Lakeland Ledger and the Orlando Sentinel. He has served as a guest commentator for Rick Elmhurst on Bay News 9 and has been featured for his cross examination on In Session’s (formally known as Court TV) Best Defense program where he was characterized as “excellent.” Kevin is also licensed to practice in Federal Court at the Middle District in Tampa. He has handled literally thousands criminal cases and tried more than 30 jury trials from DUIs to Capital Murder. Additionally, Mr. Humphries has drafted and argued countless civil and criminal motions at various hearings in the 10th and 13th Judicial Circuits. Mr. Humphries is experienced in advocating for clients in Forfeiture, Parole, FDLE and Department of Transportation Review Hearings. He has a wealth of practical experience and has also worked for both insurance defense and personal injury law firms around the state.

Chief Judge Demers of the 6th Circuit and esteemed author of the Florida DUI Handbook, has acknowledged Mr. Humphries in eight of its last editions for his aid in this important manuscript preparation. Kevin Humphries, however, did not begin his career of service and excellence as a civilian, but put his hand to honorably serving our country first. Mr. Humphries is a decorated veteran of the United States Marine Corps where he was awarded the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal with Gold Star for his meritorious service. While on active duty in the Marine Corps, Mr. Humphries served as a Platoon Sergeant and as an Adjutant’s Clerk. Kevin Humphries, natural talents and learned skills coupled with his experience and tenacity makes him a formidable advocate capable of aggressively pursuing the rights and interests of his clients.

Kevin Humphries’ learned knowledge of the law is evidenced by his Certificate of Concentration in Advocacy from Stetson University College of Law. At that time the nation’s top ranked school by US News for advocacy. As a student Mr. Humphries advocated for Stetson’s nationally renowned trial team. Kevin was also a member of the national Championship Team and was given the esteemed Ralph Harris Farrell Competition Award for his individual excellence in numerous intercollegiate competitions.

Off campus, Mr. Humphries acted simultaneously in several leading roles as the Vice President for the Student Division of the Federal Bar Association, Stetson’s Liaison to the city of Saint Petersburg, Lieutenant Governor of Resolutions for the Law Student Division of the American Bar Association and Dean’s Assistant and Co-chair of Stetson’s Social Committee.

Kevin’s active role in his profession mirrors his involvement from law school as he has been an active member of the Lakeland Bar Association, past Vice President and President of the Polk County Criminal Defense Lawyers Association, Teen Court Judge and active member of the Wilson Inns of Court. Kevin is also an active member of his church and serves as an Adjunct Professor at a local University where he teaches several legal courses.
